Strict hygiene rules frown on birthday candles for kids' cakes

2/6/2013

The National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia have raised the despised art of party pooping to new heights by putting a kibosh on kids blowing out candles on "communal" birthday cakes at childcare centers. New guidelines recommend children blow out candles on "a separate cupcake" provided by parents, to prevent the spread of germs. The Australian Medical Association has criticized the drastic kill-joy measure, saying that placing kids "in a bubble" doesn't allow them to build up their immune systems so they can handle infections later in life. The guidelines also say staff should wash the doorknobs of daycare centers daily. [Source]
