IBM blocks Siri so she can't blab all its secrets
5/23/2012Sorry, Siri, you're no longer welcome at IBM. Big Blue has blocked Zooey Deschanel's favorite digital assistant over privacy concerns, mainly because the company "worries that the spoken queries might be stored somewhere." Its paranoia isn't unwarranted: Everything you whisper into Siri's backlit purple microphone is sent to a data center in rural North Carolina, and no one's saying how long it stays there or who's allowed to analyze it. And, as Wired notes, since Siri can be used to dictate emails and texts, Apple could (potentially) have access to IBM's confidential info. So, um, Siri, can you recommend an IBM-friendly replacement?
Have you had any Siri-related mishaps?
