Iceland wields its frozen staff, tries to ban Internet porn
2/13/2013Icelandic Internet porn fans, take note: You may soon have to find a more wholesome pastime. The government is drafting legislation to block Icelanders' access to porn on the Web through computers, smartphones and game consoles, saying violent sexual imagery may be damaging to children and violate women's civil rights. Printing and distributing porn is already illegal in Iceland. The new restrictions would extend existing laws, making it the first Western democracy to take such measures. Iceland political adviser Halla Gunnarsdóttir said the technical specifics were still being addressed. "[Surely] if we can send a man to the moon, we must be able to tackle porn on the Internet."
