Idaho bans 'offensive' vodka that pokes fun at polygamy
5/31/2012A drink that winks at polygamy is A-OK in Utah, but has been deemed offensive in Idaho. The Idaho Liquor Control Division said last week that Utah-based Five Wives Vodka, whose old-fashioned label features a quintet of comely lasses with come-hither looks and cats tucked into their skirts, "is offensive to a broad segment of our population" and will not be sold in the state. Five Wives' maker contends Idaho is worried the product will piss off the state's large Mormon population, which liquor control division director Jeff Anderson confirmed. But Anderson added his team also found it "offensive to women." And on top of that, he said, it wasn't great vodka.
