Rad Indian dudes wear ladies' skirts to protest rape
1/15/2013After two brutal rapes in India, some awesome men in Bangalore have decided to add to the discussion in a creative way. Addressing the tenacious idea that women "invite" rape by what they wear, the gutsy guys donned ladies' skirts and joined about 200 other activists at an event called "Skirt the Issue," offering a lovely reminder that many Indian men recognize the severity of the crime and are on the victims' side. The photo, which has gone viral, comes after a prominent Indian lawyer blamed the New Delhi rape victim for her own attack and a Rajasthan legislator proposed banning school-uniform skirts to save girls from "men's lustful gazes."
