Indonesia unwittingly boosts ticket sales with Gaga ban
3/18/2012High-ranking Indonesian Islamic authorities just don't understand kids these days. Cholil Ridwan, a chairman for the Indonesian Council of Ulema, has declared Lady Gaga's upcoming Jakarta concert as Haram, meaning it's forbidden to Muslims, which has helped make it the hottest show in town. 25,000 tickets to the Jakarta event sold in the first two hours of availability. Ridwan is urging fans to return the tickets and ask for a refund, despite having never seen the singer perform, claiming that the concert is "intended to destroy the nation's morality." However, if there's one way to make fans more interested, it's by calling something dangerous and forbidding them to see it. Maybe Gaga's agents should send Ridwan a thank-you note when the tour arrives there in June.
