University offers indoor lawns for stressed students to lie around on

12/6/2012

Sure, college students using grass to relax is old news, but Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., is taking it to a whole new level. The interiors of two libraries and two science buildings at Cornell are now resplendent with calming, green, living turf, thanks to the mad lawn skills of the Department of Design and Environmental Analysis. The indoor grass was installed to give stressed-out students some pleasant space to chill out in during the hectic final exam period. School administrator Eveline Ferretti said "being in touch with nature helps people be calmer, and they feel refreshed and productive." No doubt a puppy room complete with turf is on the horizon.
