Scientists develop shot of animal cells to get rid of pesky body fat
10/9/2012Losing that double chin could soon be as easy as having a shot. Scientists have developed an injection of heat-producing cells that change the fatty tissue surrounding them without altering tissue elsewhere. This results in surplus calories being used up by producing heat, instead of hanging around to ruin photos. These heat-producing cells, which are sourced from mice, are mostly found in animals and babies because we lose them as we grow older. Researchers at Ohio State University have tested the shots on obese mice, which lost 10 percent of their body weight even though they were still putting away the same amount of food. If further testing proves the shots are safe and effective, the treatment could be available to humans in around six years. [Source]
