Inmates released after quake amazingly don't return to jail
4/12/2012Who would've guessed that less than half of the prisoners released following Wednesday's Indonesian earthquakes would actually turn themselves back in? Everyone. Well, everyone except the officials at Aceh Jail, who let all 62 inmates go, because of fears that a tsunami might strike, if they promised to come back. According to the Jakarta Globe, only 28 had returned to jail as of Thursday, though the still-optimistic authorities say that the others -- last seen running for higher ground -- are totally on their way. "Some of [the remaining 34 prisoners] have called and said they will be back," the chief of the Pidie police precinct said. Sure they will.
Would you have come back?
