Double breaking: INXS was still together, have broken up

The shocking revelation that '80s band INXS was still together was immediately mitigated by the news of its breakup. The band, formed in 1977, did its final show today in Perth, Australia, degradingly opening for Matchbox Twenty. The band's already-fading profile took a debilitating hit after the death of lead singer Michael Hutchence in 1997. INXS continued to play with a variety of lead singers, including J.D. Fortune, who won the gig in the reality show "Rock Star: INXS." A moderately successful studio album was released in 2005, plus a cover-song tribute album in 2010. Goodbye, old friends.
