Thieves steal $1.5M worth of iPad minis from JFK airport
11/16/2012Despite all those tales kicking around of people being duped into buying notepads or a mirror instead of an iPad, there are some shady characters out there now with the real deal. Authorities say thieves stole new Apple iPad minis worth $1.5 million from a cargo building at JFK airport, N.Y. -- the very same building that appeared in the film "Goodfellas" as the site of a heist. The thieves hit the building just before midnight and made off with two pallets of the much-coveted product, which they loaded into their truck using one of the airport's forklifts. Their raid was cut short when an airport worker returned from dinner, so the thieves apparently escaped with fewer iPads than they'd anticipated. [Source]
