Thieves in Japan nab 191 new iPhones before anyone else
9/21/2012Waiting in line for an iPhone 5 is so passe. Impatient thieves in Osaka, Japan, bypassed that whole line-waiting hoopla and got their grubby paws on more than $100,000 worth of new iPhones before paying customers had even packed their new-release-campout gear. Launching coordinated attacks on three stores at around 3 a.m. today, the techno thieves ripped off 191 shiny, longer, thinner iPhones — crappy Maps app and all. Concerned citizens (perhaps sensing that their own prospective iPhones were in danger) alerted police when they saw guys casing one of the shops. Too little, too late: The burglars cleaned the stock out in minutes. [Source]
