Irate accountant sues after smart-ass pays bill in all coins
5/15/2012In a smart-ass stunt gone wrong, a businessman ended up turning a $1,283 bill into a $1,795 one. Robert Fitzpatrick was unhappy with his accountant's service, so he took his business elsewhere and skipped out on his final payment. He later paid up by dropping five crates of coins totaling $1,283 on Philip Lawrence's lawn. Lawrence wasn't amused, suing Fitzpatrick for the original amount plus interest, as well as the cost of storing the metal money. The judge's gavel came down in Lawrence's favor (save for the storage costs), and Fitzpatrick was ordered to pay up. "Of course it's unusual," Fitzpatrick said of his ridiculous delivery. "But it depends how annoyed you are with someone. I'm not bothered."
