South African president says dogs are part of white culture

Jacob Zuma, the president of South Africa, is using his office to rail against pets. Why? He says they're part of white culture and that black citizens who love dogs are simply trying to be white: "Even if you apply any kind of lotion and straighten your hair, you will never be white," he said. In a follow-up statement, Zuma's office said he was trying to criticize "people who sit with their dogs in front in a van or truck with a worker at the back in pouring rain."
