Jail officer caught on video punching inmate in face
8/5/2012Rico Palomino's status at the Cook County Jail in Chicago could go from employee to resident after the desk officer was caught by a surveillance camera slugging an inmate in the face. Palomino's been charged with felony misconduct for the blow and then telling the detainee to claim he'd hit the officer first. The punch left the inmate bleeding from the mouth and requiring stitches, and prosecutors say Palomino submitted false reports to cloud the issue. A lawyer for the veteran officer says he was simply defending himself. We'll be looking forward to see how that story flies with a jury. [Source]
