Florida man is killed after poorly trained dog hits the gas pedal
1/17/2013Apparently the dogs learning to drive responsibly trend hasn't reached Florida. James Campbell, a 68-year-old man from Cantonment, Fla., was killed after the pet pooch of the woman with whom he lived, Iris Fortner, jumped into her van and hit the accelerator. Campbell, who was in the passenger seat, got out of the 1995 Chevy to open the gate outside the couple's home. When Fortner, who was driving, opened her door to see where Campbell was standing, her large boxer clambered in and hit the gas. The van lurched forward and hit Campbell, trapping him beneath it. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither Fortner nor the dog has been charged. [Source]
