On Friday, 14-year-old Destini McFarlane sat behind President Obama at Hyde Park Career Academy in Chicago, while he spoke about the need to curb gun violence. Later that day, Destini's 18-year-old sister Janay was shot in the head and killed while visiting family and friends in North Chicago. Police say two people are being questioned in connection with Janay's death, but charges have yet to be filed. Her mother, Angela Blakely, says the bullet that killed Janay was meant for someone else. In his speech, Obama had paid tribute to 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton, who was shot and killed in January days after performing at his inauguration. [Source]
