Japanese invent awesome device to shut people up
3/2/2012The Japanese have invented a device that would surely top Christmas lists everywhere if it were mass produced. Japanese researchers have developed a handheld gun that can stop a person from speaking mid-sentence. Who wouldn't want to silence their mother-in-law, boss, politician or angry protester? Using delayed auditory feedback, the device safely plays back the words of the person talking with a 0.2-second delay. The echoes confuse the brain and trip up the speaker. The researchers said the device is a conflict-resolution option that promotes peaceful discussions -- but it could also be used in libraries or in group discussions on people who interrupt others.
