New Orleans city attorney drops joint on floor of courtroom
10/3/2012Jason Cantrell, a 43-year-old city attorney, stunned a New Orleans courtroom Monday when he accidentally let a joint fall from his pocket to the floor in plain view of several police officers. Cantrell is the son of Magistrate Commissioner Harry Cantrell, and it was the lawyer’s first offense (he was swiftly ushered from the room and given a simple summons for possession while everybody had a good, long laugh). Luckily Cantrell wasn't wrapping up a passionate closing argument or pounding the witness stand demanding the truth when the blunt popped out of his pocket … But he was standing and talking with a bunch of police officers waiting to testify. He is suspended without pay pending an investigation. [Source]
