Artist makes tribute to Big Bird out of children's breakfast cereal

During the first presidential debate last Wednesday night, Mitt Romney ignited a maelstrom of fear and loathing when he said he wanted to stop the subsidy to Public Broadcasting Service even though he claimed to "love Big Bird." Seemingly within minutes, the Bird – everyone's favorite feathered friend from "Sesame Street" – was popping up everywhere. Now artist Jason Mecier has joined the fray with his own quirky take on the controversy: A whimsical mosaic of Big Bird waving an American flag. The cool part? The artwork was made entirely out of kids' breakfast cereal.
