His name is Jeff Bauman. He is the seriously wounded man in the wheelchair, captured in a now-iconic photograph in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings. Bauman lost both legs in the attack and remains hospitalized after enduring two operations at Boston Medical Center. According to his father, also named Jeff Bauman, the 27-year-old had been standing at the finish line, waiting for his girlfriend to finish the race. After the explosions, Bauman Sr. was trying desperately to get in touch with his son, when his stepdaughter called him. "Did you see the picture?" she asked. "[Jeffrey] got hurt." The elder Bauman credits the heroic efforts of Carlos Arredondo — the man in the cowboy hat — with saving his son's life. [Source]
