Senate candidate sends 'friendly' robocalls with wrong polling places

11/6/2012

A GOP senatorial candidate sent out friendly robocall reminders to voters over the weekend, telling them where to go to cast their ballots. The only problem with this apparent act of civic kindness? Several Democrats claim the calls misdirected them to the wrong locations. After a handful of voters called a Phoenix news station, Democrats have asked the FBI to investigate Rep. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) to determine if the misinformation was intentional or a simple mistake. His campaign officials have noted that 120,000 calls went out with less than 10 complaints (adding they all should have been Republican households to get the call anyway). Still, Flake's opponent Richard Carmona has seized the opportunity and the cries of voter suppression are loud and many. [Source]
