Barefoot 'homeless' man given boots by NY cop has a home
12/5/2012The supposedly homeless man who was given a pair of winter boots by a New York City cop is (cue outrage) not technically homeless. The man, Jeffrey Hillman, who was jettisoned to the viral stratosphere after the good deed of Officer Lawrence Deprimo, has a Bronx apartment paid for by federal rent vouchers and Social Security disability and veterans benefits. "He has a history of turning down services," said Barbara Brancaccio, a spokeswoman for the city's homeless services, explaining why Hillman continues to panhandle on the streets. We're just glad the poor guy at least has somewhere to live. [Source]
