65-year-old goes to college and joins a frat, obviously

3/15/2013

He might look like the boys' grandfather, but really Jerry Reid is just another brother eternal of the young men of Chi Phi. Jerry, who used to hang around the Virginia Chi Phi house back in the '60s, never thought college would be in his future. But in 2009, at the age of 65, Jerry finally decided to enroll at the University of Virginia and naturally, he decided to go Greek too. According to Jerry, he's had no trouble fitting in at the Chi Phi house. As he told the New York Times, "I want to be known as a brother and they allow me to do that. Many of my young friends in the fraternity tell me they view me as a 20-year-old with 48 years of extra experience." Jerry, who is now 67, will graduate with the class of 2014. [Source]
