JFK Airport workers charged with stealing 100,000 teeny liquor bottles
9/13/2012Stealing mini-bottles of booze mightn't seem like a big crime, but it is when you're accused of pinching more than 100,000 of them. Eighteen workers at JFK Airport were arrested on Wednesday and charged with stealing the teeny tiny bottles from LSG Sky Chefs, an airline food and beverage company. Fifteen of them were LSG employees; the other three were security guards who allegedly accepted bribes to overlook the thefts. The accused thieves weren't planning to use the bottles to stock hotel minibars: Police say they were sold "on the underground market to local liquor stores and bodegas," yielding an estimated $750,000.
