Smoker's drunken 911 calls for more cigarettes fail to amuse
2/20/2013There's no better accompaniment to a cancer-causing drink than a cancer-causing cigarette. They just WORK. Which is why, when Joan Mayo, 48, ran out of smokes during a night of heavy drinking, she called 911 for help, asking for sheriff's deputies in Hood County, Texas, to bring some around. According to police, Mayo was "very intoxicated" when she made the six allegedly profane prank emergency calls, and told them she had no regard for 911 and would call whoever she wanted. Authorities failed to see the humor in wasting the time of the emergency dispatch team and charged her with a misdemeanor, forcing her to cough up a $1,000 bond. [Source]
