Even the toughest sheriff around gets his credit card stolen
2/6/2013Joe Arpaio, who has repeatedly proclaimed himself "America's Toughest Sheriff," is now "America's Toughest Identity Theft Victim." Someone swiped Arpaio's Discovery card details, using them to buy almost $300 worth of groceries at a Jewel supermarket in Chicago. Arpaio says he hasn't been to Chicago since his 1957 wedding, so he's pretty sure those full shopping carts don't belong to him. "[The theft] could've been done by, what do you call it, skimmers making copies or through the Internet," he said. "I don't think I'm the only victim around." Despite his reputation for being beyond hard on criminals, Arpaio said he might not press charges if he learns that the thieves were "struggling." [Source]
