Arizona sheriff sends 3K members of his armed posse to protect schools12/29/2012
Rest easy, people of Arizona, because Sheriff Joe Arpaio is on the case. The always controversial Maricopa County Sheriff has pledged to dispatch members of his "armed posse" to protect at least 50 schools located within his jurisdiction. "We're not talking about placing the posse in the schools right now but in … the perimeters of the school to detect any criminal activity," Arpaio explained. His posse is composed of 3,000 volunteers, and since 1993, he has stationed them outside malls during the holiday shopping season. This year he said there were zero violent incidents, and they made 31 arrests. [Source]
