Paranoid Senate hopeful celebrated primary win in a bulletproof vest
1/12/2013We’re finding out just how paranoid Tea Party bigwigs were during the group’s 2010 heyday. Sarah Palin-endorsed Joe Miller made Washington gasp that year when he defeated incumbent U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski in Alaska’s Republican primary. His then-bodyguard revealed today that Miller was so terrified of potential assassination by shadowy forces of evil, he wore a bulletproof vest to the victory party. What he needed was a voter-proof vest — he ultimately lost the General Election to Murkowski as a write-in candidate, which is almost unheard of. So in a way, Miller was right. A large group of conspirators really did want to get rid of him. Just not in the way he feared. [Source]
