John McAfee insists Vice magazine didn't give away his secret location
12/4/2012The location of John McAfee, on the run from Belizean authorities over the murder of his neighbor, may have been unwittingly revealed by a Vice magazine reporter. A picture for a story entitled, "We are with John McAfee right now, suckers," was apparently taken with an iPhone 4S, which automatically embeds location data in pictures. An astute Twitter user noticed that the metadata indicated the shot had been taken in Guatemala's Parc Nacional Rio Dulce. The 67-year-old fugitive was quick to explain in a post on his blog that he'd meddled with the data so the picture would give a false location. Oh, sure. Nice try, McAfee. [Source] and [Source]
