Texas A&M's 'Johnny Football' really wants to be the new Tebowing

11/11/2012

College football has had some exceptional quarterbacks of late (Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III), but no one since Tim Tebow has captured fans' imaginations quite like Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel. Hailed as "Johnny Football," the freshman's effort in Saturday's upset of top-ranked Alabama has turned him into a Heisman Trophy front-runner. So his family has taken a page out of Tebow's book and is seeking, along with the school, to trademark the nickname, much as Tebow recently trademarked Tebowing. Not that the Manziels can profit off any gear sales and still have Johnny maintain his eligibility. But they don't want anyone else scoring a marketing touchdown, either. [Source]
