Ex-presidential wannabe Huntsman says GOP is 'devoid of a soul'
1/1/2013Typically, when a politician says that a party is soulless, he's talking about the other guys. However, in an interview with the Daily Telegraph, former Republican presidential hopeful Jon Huntsman said that the GOP is "devoid of a soul" and needs to adopt a more libertarian approach to social issues. "We can't be known as a party that's fear-based and doesn't believe in math," said the former U.S. ambassador to China. Huntsman also added that the Republican primaries favored more extreme choices rather than "long-term competitive candidates" — which sounds a bit like sour grapes coming from a guy who lost in the primaries.
