Jon Stewart hails Eastwood's 'fistful of awesome'

9/1/2012

After Clint Eastwood's bizarre, much-analyzed speech to an empty chair at the Republican National Convention on Thursday night, comedian Jon Stewart celebrated the actor's strange skit with gleeful snark, calling his performance a "fistful of awesome." With delighted ridicule, the comedian blasted the actor, calling his 12-minute speech the "most joy [he's] gotten from an old man since Dick Cheney non-fatally shot one," referring to the former vice president's 2006 hunting incident. Stewart flashed to several mumbling clips of the actor's off-the-cuff conversation with an imaginary Barack Obama, cutting back to a classically befuddled Stewart stare. Unsurprisingly, the clip has gone viral.
