Man says if corporations are people, one can be his car pool buddy
1/6/2013The latest challenge to corporate personhood statutes comes from an unexpected place: the car pool lane. Jonathan Frieman of San Rafael, Calif., was ticketed for driving alone in the HOV lane. Frieman is challenging the ticket, arguing that he had corporate incorporation papers in his car, and since corporations are people, that’s a passenger. "Corporations are imaginary entities, and we've let them run wild," Frieman said. "Their original intent 200 years ago at the dawn of our nation was to serve human beings. So I'm wresting back that power by making their personhood serve me." However, as the Pacific Sun newspaper points out, if the court agrees with Frieman, could he still be pulled over for not making his passenger wear a seatbelt? [Source]
