Mascot told to stop using university-issued musket to kill things

12/8/2012

Of course, West Virginia University. Of course you would have a Mountaineer mascot dressed in head-to-toe buckskin (with fringe!) and wearing a coonskin cap. Of course you would require him to grow a beard. And of course you would complete the look by giving a college kid a working musket. In a directive that could only have been issued in West Virginia, the university ordered current Mountaineer mascot Jonathan Kimble to stop using his school-issued musket to kill wildlife after Kimble filmed himself shooting a black bear in a tree during a hunting trip and later tweeted a photo of the kill.
