JonBenet jurors wanted to indict parents in her death
1/28/2013Were JonBenet Ramsey's parents guilty? That was the word from a grand jury, which wanted to indict the couple on charges of child abuse resulting in the 6-year-old's death, but a Colorado district attorney refused to prosecute them. In 1999, then-DA Alex Hunter declined to charge the Ramseys with JonBenet's 1996 murder because he didn't believe he could "prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt." Some members of the jury thought otherwise, sharing their thoughts with a Boulder newspaper. "We didn't know who did what," one juror said. "But we felt the adults in the house may have done something that they … could have prevented, or they could have helped her and they didn't." [Source]
