Texas suspends 2 football players from bowl game amid rape allegations

12/29/2012

The Texas Longhorns play the Oregon State Beavers in Saturday’s Alamo Bowl, but the team got plenty of attention before the game even kicked off. Rumors are flying as police investigate a possible sexual assault by two unidentified University of Texas football players, just as Longhorns backup quarterback Case McCoy and linebacker Jordan Hicks were sent home for "breaking team rules." Although neither suspect was formally identified, the redacted police report says the victim identified one as a 20-year-old black man with a height and weight of 6 feet 2 inches and 235 pounds, and a 21-year-old white man who is 6 feet tall and 180 pounds. The Texas football website lists Hicks at 6-foot-2 and 235, and McCoy at 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds. [Source]
