NJ boy stands up to team that banned his pink gloves for sick mom9/13/2012
When the coach of Julian Connerton's football team told him to take off his pink gloves, the 12-year-old promptly quit his team. Connerton wanted to wear the gloves in support of his mom, Mayra Cruz-Connerton, who has breast cancer, but his coach, Paul Burgan, refused to sanction it because it contravened the team's uniform. So the New Jersey boy walked off the field and vowed not to return unless he got an apology. The good news is that his actions received local media attention and a retraction from Burgan, who says he had forgotten about Mayra's illness. "He did something 100 percent right. He stood up for his mother," Burgan says. [Source]
