Doctors confirm NFL legend Junior Seau had brain disease from trauma
1/10/2013It's official: NFL great Junior Seau, who killed himself with a gunshot to the chest last year, did suffer from chronic traumatic encephalopathy, the degenerative brain disease found in dozens of college and pro football players. The National Institutes of Health conducted the test, finding that Seau's brain showed that the injuries were likely caused by "exposure to repetitive head injuries." The star linebacker, who retired in 2009, suffered from mood swings, depression and irrationality in the month before his death, said his family, who donated his brain to research a few days after death.
