DOJ acts to protect something truly important: the price of beer

2/1/2013

The Justice Department has filed a lawsuit to prevent Bud brewer, Anheuser-Busch InBev (ABI), buying out Mexican brewer Grupo Modelo, the good people behind Corona. The government said the merger would see the resulting company controlling nearly half the beer sales in the U.S., reducing competition and possibly leading to higher beer prices. ABI has promised a court fight to save the deal that would see them pay $20.1 billion for Grupo Modelo. Won't someone please think of the beer? [Source]
