UPDATE: Heroic dog who lost snout also has aggressive form of cancer

10/17/2012

Last week, we shared the story of Kabang, the brave dog who lost half of her snout while rescuing two girls from a speeding motorcycle. The dog has made it from the Philippines to the University of California-Davis, but surgery on her damaged face has been delayed while veterinarians scramble to address her other health issues. Kabang's doctors discovered that the heroic pup has a heartworm infection and also has "an aggressively cancerous tumor" that will require treatment that could last up to six months. "It is wonderful that people have seen how wonderful dogs can be to human lives," Dr. Jane Sykes said. "I think we owe her a service in return." [Source
