Hero teacher barricaded terrified students into a bathroom
12/15/2012Add first grade teacher Kaitlin Roig to the host of brave heroes emerging from the tragedy in Newtown, Conn. When she heard gunfire at Sandy Hook Elementary School, the quick-thinking teacher managed to rush 15 small, terrified children into a tiny bathroom, piling one kid on top of the toilet to make them all fit and pulling a bookshelf in front of the door to barricade them in. She described her heroic actions and her fear that they were all going to be killed in an interview with Diane Sawyer, including how she kept her kids calm by telling them how much she loved them while they waited for rescuers to arrive.
