Newspaper makes two reporters choose who has to be laid off
12/13/2012We can only imagine how somber the mood around The Kansas City Star must be this holiday season. The newspaper is eliminating one of its reporter positions, and rather than have the higher-ups make the hard decisions themselves, management made two staffers, Karen Dillon and Dawn Bormann, decide which of them should stay and which should go. Dillon has seniority, and she ultimately chose to stay, leaving Bormann without a job just a couple of weeks before Christmas. However, we don't much envy Dillon for having to work with such spineless bosses. At least they didn't make the two women duke it out in a cage match. [Source]
