Award-winning author dimisses Kate Middleton as 'bland,' 'plastic'

Fans of Kate Middleton (that's the Duchess of Cambridge to you, commoner) are outraged over brutal comments from award-winning author Hilary Mantel. The English author, who's won two prestigious Booker prizes for novels which delve into the dark side of English royal history, dismissed Kate as nothing more than a "shop window mannequin" with a "plastic smile" whose only purpose is to provide an heir to the throne. Speaking at the British Museum, Mantel described the Duchess as a bland "machine-made" Princess, who is "painfully thin as anyone could wish, without quirks, without oddities."
