Parents say seeing unborn baby smile made them rethink abortion

1/15/2013

When doctors told Katyia Rowe and her partner Shane Johnson, of England, that their son Lucian would never walk or talk and would require 24-hour care because of brain malformations, they recommended terminating the pregnancy. However, after Rowe saw 3-D scans of Lucian that showed him smiling, blowing bubbles and waving his arms, she decided against an abortion and carried Lucian to term. "While he was inside me his quality of life looked to be wonderful. He was a joy to watch," she said. After he was born, Lucian survived for only nine hours, but Rowe said she felt "honored and privileged to have the chance to cuddle him." [Source]
