Interior secretary apologizes for threatening to 'punch out' reporter

11/14/2012

No politician likes to face difficult questions from pesky reporters, but threatening them with violence isn't recommended. Take Ken Salazar, the secretary of the interior. While attending an Election Day campaign event for President Obama in Denver, Salazar found himself interviewed by Colorado Springs Gazette reporter Dave Philipps. After being asked about the state's increasing wild-horse population and his own links to a buyer who allegedly sold horses to Mexico to be destroyed, Salazar cut the inquisition short. According to a witness, Salazar told the reporter after the interview, "You know what, you do that again ... I'll punch you out." A Salazar spokesman later said, "The secretary regrets the exchange."
