Could Luke Skywalker live in this just-discovered solar system?

8/29/2012

Scientists have announced the detection of Kepler-47, the first solar system they've seen with two planets — creatively named Kepler-47b and 47c — that orbit two suns. Based on their findings, published in the journal Science, the system has been compared to Luke Skywalker's home planet Tatooine, which also had a pair of suns. Kepler-47 is located 5,000 light years away in the constellation Cygnus ("The Swan"). "The thing I find most exciting is the potential for habitability in a circumbinary [double sun] system," William Welsh said. Our excitement is tempered until we learn if "habitability" means Jedi warriors or just a bunch of Womp Rats. [Source]
