Park employees attacked by 100,000 killer bees on worst workday ever
3/6/2013What was once just fodder for cheesy B movies now has the sting of reality. Two park workers in Tampa, Fla., dispatched to remove a pile of trash were swarmed when the cleanup accidentally disturbed a hive of more than 100,000 killer bees. And the exterminator who killed the colony said more attacks are coming, as this group had been breeding and establishing other colonies for three years. David Zeledon and Rodney Pugh were hospitalized after being stung almost 100 times each by the Africanized bees, which are suspected of having come to the United States from Africa or South America aboard a port ship, as the park where the men were attacked is near the Port of Tampa.
