Now's your chance to own part of a king as royal blood goes on auction

3/11/2013

On January 21, 1793, the last king of France, Louis XVI, was beheaded. A mob fought to dip their garments and cloth into his royal blood as it spilled in the heart of Paris, and steal the hair from his head. It’s hard to imagine the chaos and brutality of such a moment, but it seems modern folks want a king's blood as much as those Parisians. A piece of cloth supposedly stained with the monarch’s blood is going up for auction on April 3. While it was previously stored in a gourd, it’s gotten an upgrade in packaging and is now presented inside a miniature coffin. Regicide enthusiasts, time to break that piggy bank! [Source]
