Knicks’ backups turn to Twitter to get a nickname

Since the bench has been the lone steady part of the Knicks lately, reserve guard Iman Shumpert asked his nearly 80,000 Twitter followers to come up with a nickname for the backups. The winner? "Mob Deep" after the 1990s hip-hop duo Mobb Deep. And Mobb member Prodigy is liking it: "That's what's up," he enthused to ESPN. Knicks fans will get to see how deep they are now that star player Amar'e Stoudemire is out indefinitely. Meanwhile, Knicks players can rap the words of their namesake to their opponents: "You all up in the game and don't deserve to be a player."
